Diabetes sucks.
Thursday, October 9, 2014
My sister Carol and my father Jeff may they rest in peace.
I wish to recommit to telling the story of whats killing us here in America. The sleeper here is Diabetes. When your pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin for the amount of sugar in your body you develop #1, 4, 7, 9 as well as a host of other deadly conditions. Neither were consider killed by diabetes. My father had a stroke and my sister had cancer, but she was type1 and he was type2 and as I review the list the cover 12 of the top 15 causes of death but Diabetes is what precipitated or aggravated the majority of their chronic conditions.
Table B. Deaths and death rates for 2011 and age-adjusted death rates and percentage changes in age-adjusted rates
from 2010 to 2011 for the 15 leading causes of death in 2011: United States, final 2010 and preliminary 2011

There it is straight from the CDC the number one killer goes for the heart!
Disease of the heart I know a little something about.
A combination of #1, #4, and #7 took my father seven years ago. I have been studying the diseases that took him and statistically speaking will eventually kill me. It was a horrible way to go.
I see the number one killer as a result of the compounded effects and difficulty of managing multiple chronic health conditions over time. We will not get old if we do not own our chronic conditions.
The number one killer of kids in America is accidents!
